HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE MILITARY AND LIVE WITH PAIN?

🎖️ Have you ever been in the military? Do you live with pain?

There was a recent survey done by Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence that “Black” Veteran Affairs (name change to be announced) was asked to participate. The survey is now closed but we ask anyone with pain and concerns to contact Anaïs Lacasse, professor at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), Canada.

Last May, they launched a Canada-wide study—the COPE-V study—aimed at better understanding the treatment of chronic pain among veterans. More than 400 former members of the Canadian Armed Forces have already shared their experiences with us. Perhaps you’ve heard about it?

They are currently in the final stretch of our recruitment, which ends on October 31. There is still time to participate by completing our questionnaire, available in both English and French.

Many groups have historically been underrepresented in research, including veterans, and in particular Black veterans. Your support in sharing our study would help ensure that diverse voices are represented and that the experiences of Black veterans are heard and valued.

The project is funded by the Veterans’ Health Research Consortium (RQRD), in partnership with the Centre of Excellence on Chronic Pain for Canadian Veterans (CESLDC), and has received all the necessary ethics approvals. The team also includes several former CAF members.

The survey is closed but you can still share what your experiences.
