On Thursday, September 25, 2025 an emergency press briefing was held in York South-Weston. Edmond Vassell was one the speakers sharing his lived experience with systemic racism, gun violence and the failing criminal system.
“If you set a mandatory 10 years for possession, they won’t want to pick up a gun,” says Vassell. Vassell further commented about cuts to programs that affect the positive growth and development of youths in under-served communities. Mr. Vassell is founder of Zero Gun Tolerance.

Holding corporations and record labels accountable to the level of violent and gun content broadcasted, sold and distributed . “It should be illegal” says K. Ann of corporations who push and sign artists that promote violence.
