To the Honourable Members of Parliament,
I am writing to you today to respectfully request a formal acknowledgement and renewed commitment to honoring the lives and sacrifices of Canada’s veterans and soldiers. These brave men and women have selflessly served our country, defending our values and protecting our freedoms, often at great personal cost.
It is imperative that we, as a nation, continually remember and appreciate their dedication and service. A formal acknowledgement from Parliament will serve as a powerful symbol of our gratitude and ensure that their contributions are never forgotten. Along with Canada enacting May “Military Awareness Month”
The Importance of Remembrance
Remembering our veterans and soldiers is not merely a historical exercise; it is a vital component of our national identity. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to safeguard our nation and its principles. By acknowledging their service, we inspire future generations to understand the importance of peace, freedom, and civic duty.
Furthermore, it is crucial that we support our veterans in practical ways, ensuring they have access to the resources and care they need to thrive after their service. A formal acknowledgement from Parliament during the visit of His Majesty King Charles III can help raise awareness of the challenges veterans face and encourage greater investment in their well-being.

A Call to Action
I urge you, the elected representatives of the Canadian people, to consider the following actions:
·Issue a formal statement from Parliament acknowledging the invaluable contributions of Canada’s veterans and soldiers during the visit of King Charles III for his Throne Speech.
·Increase funding for programs and services that support veterans’ physical, mental, and emotional health.
·Promote educational initiatives that teach Canadians about the history of military service and the sacrifices made by our veterans.
·Support initiatives that honor veterans through memorials, commemorative events, and community programs.
.Enacting May as Military Awareness Month
By taking these steps, we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment to honoring those who have served our country and ensuring that their legacy endures for generations to come.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
K. Ann Thomas
